Art and design are not merely aesthetic forms of expression but also serve as profound tools for intellectual inquiry. The objects and images we encounter in daily life can transcend conventional meanings when placed within the right context. This exhibition aims to create a new world of meaning for the audience by employing semiotic principles. Semiotics is the study of the processes through which meaning is produced and interpreted. Ferdinand de Saussure’s concept of the arbitrary relationship between the two fundamental elements of a sign—signifier (signifiant) and signified (signifié)—offers viewers a new perspective. In this context, signs that communicate through spaces, forms, and colors create different layers of meaning depending on their social contexts. Charles Sanders Peirce’s triadic model of signs further enriches this meaning-making process through the categories of icon (representing similarity), index (having a causal connection), and symbol (gaining meaning through social consensus). For example, a brick crushed beneath a red balloon carries a powerful symbolic weight. The “Awareness Graphics” exhibition presents social and ecological issues through symbols and metaphors with a critical perspective. Constructed through a minimalist approach using photography, the visual narratives invite the audience into a deep intellectual process. The exhibition provides a platform for visual discourse on topics such as the ethical and ecological costs of capitalist consumption habits, social injustices, and addictions. With a firm belief in the inquisitive and transformative power of art and design, “Awareness Graphics” seeks to act as a call for both social and individual awareness. Each work presented offers viewers an opportunity to engage in intellectual inquiry and contribute to this collective transformation process. This dialogue, established on a semiotic foundation, encourages a deeper exploration of meaning through art and invites society to reconsider its various dynamics.

Sanat ve tasarım yalnızca estetik bir ifade biçimi değil, aynı zamanda derin bir düşünsel sorgulama aracıdır. Gündelik yaşamda karşılaştığımız nesneler ve imgeler, doğru bir bağlamda bir araya geldiğinde, alışıldık anlamların ötesine geçebilir. Bu sergi, göstergebilimsel ilkeleri kullanarak, izleyiciyle yeni bir anlam dünyası oluşturmayı amaçlamıştır. Göstergebilim, anlamın üretildiği ve yorumlandığı süreçleri inceleyen bir alandır. Ferdinand de Saussure’ün göstergenin iki temel unsuru olan gösteren (signifiant) ve gösterilen (signifié) arasındaki keyfi ilişki, izleyicilere yeni bir bakış açısı sunar. Bu bağlamda, alanlar, biçimler ve renkler üzerinden iletişim kuran göstergeler, toplumsal bağlamlara göre farklı anlam katmanları oluşturur. Charles Sanders Peirce’in üçlü gösterge modeli de, ikon (benzerliği temsil eden), indeks (nedensellik bağı olan) ve sembol (toplumsal mutabakatla anlam kazanan) kategorileriyle bu anlam üretimini zenginleştirir. Sergide, kapitalist tüketim alışkanlıklarının etik ve ekolojik maliyetleri, sosyal adaletsizlikler ve bağımlılıklar gibi konular, görsel bir tartışma zemini oluşturur. Sanat ve tasarımın sorgulayıcı ve dönüştürücü gücüne olan inançla, “Farkındalık Grafikleri” toplumsal ve bireysel sosyal farkındalığın bir çağrı olmayı hedeflemiştir. Sunulan her eser, izleyicinin düşünsel sorgulamalar yapmasına ve bu kolektif dönüşüm sürecine katkı sağlama fırsatı sunar. Göstergebilimsel bir zeminde kurulan bu diyalog, sanat aracılığıyla anlamın derinliğine inmeyi ve toplumun çeşitli dinamiklerini yeniden düşünmeyi teşvik eder.
